Born into slavery, George Washington Carver became a trailblazing scientist whose experiments with plants laid the groundwork for today's research on plant-based fuels, medicines, and everyday products. His persistence and compassion nourished a lifelong mission to bring practical knowledge to those in need.

Food for Thought
High School Science Series
Friday, October 8

Learn about the expansion of the local food movement. Hear from scientists about health and nutrition concerns, including obesity-related issues. Participate in hands-on activities, such as the healthy cooking challenge.

Thursday, October 14

Experience the excitement of archaeology with dozens of hands-on activities, live presentations, and special programs. Talk to over 25 archaeologists from throughout New England.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT


Dynamic Life Fall Teachers Series
September and October

Using Museum resources, teachers engage in adult learning that supports teaching complex topics in biology. Middle school life science teachers are invited to gather for a series of Wednesday afternoon professional meetings focused on biodiversity, human biology, and genetics and evolution.
