The Center for the Science of Nanoscale Systems and their Device Applications is a National Science Foundation Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center. It is headquartered at Harvard University, and includes as major partners M.I.T., the University of California at Santa Barbara, and the Museum of Science, Boston. The role of the Museum of Science is to inform and engage public audiences in learning about nanoscale science and engineering and in considering the potential societal impact of new nanoscale-based technologies.

With support from this Harvard-based NSEC, the Museum produces regular talks, demonstrations, live cablecasts via New England Cable News, podcasts, multimedia, and science communication workshops.

The director of the center is Professor Robert Westervelt of Harvard University. The center's educational outreach efforts are directed by Kathryn Hollar at Harvard and by Carol Lynn Alpert at the Museum of Science. More information: nano@mos.org.
